Changing my mind!

I liked the idea of documenting the aftermath of a saturday night but after shooting a few times i felt i wasn't really going to be able to develop the idea much further within the place i work.

I really like the portraits i posted on here from another magazine (below) and so the idea of creating my own portraits and manipulating them to create the same sort of effect is what i have decided i will concentrate on now for my project idea.

I started shooting the other day, here is a small preview.
The start of my series of portraits but without the manipulation.

A start..

Ok so i thought i would start to play around with creating a poster for the exhibition, although seeing the ones that have been created so far i felt it was going to be a challenge as they are really good concepts and look great!
It's most definitely just a start!
I like the look of boxed images and so just went for this quite standard format.
I have used only my images, as it was just simpler for my first trial.

The boxes aren't all exact in size.. like i said rough start (-:

Any suggestions ? ?

Comparing Websites

I look at photographers websites all the time. Although i don't always think about how they look or how they are formatted, But of course i notice if they are 'frustrating' to use.
I have taken two photographers websites that i have looked at often. One which i think is appealing and well thought out but has a simple format. The other being not so easy to use.

The Good

http://www.juliafullerton-batten.com/

This website is extremely easy to use while being appealing to look at and doing what you want it to do when show casing work. The website is catalogued clearly giving the you the ability to find what you are looking for. I really like that the images are shown big when you click into each section on the website, and has a simple arrow to click to view each image which works quick! Rather than slide shows or images that go small then big when you click! ( Do not LIKE )
There is also the side bar of thumbnails to flick through quick ( Very Handy!)
Overall simple and effective and i like the use of colours together!
Would definitely consider this format and style for my own website.

The Not So Good

http://karencollinsphoto.com/

First of i personally would have one of my best pictures or a selection of pictures to be the first thing you would see when entering my website, in this case its information which is valid but would be better placed else where on the website. The colours create a slight vintage style which i don't think is a bad thing but i am not a fan of brown really. This website is not made for being organised or easy to use, its definitely more visual. I do like how the pictures are displayed to look like they have been thrown and landed in a pile but it really isn't a easy or effective way to look at the images. One thing i find bad about this website is that when you click on the image then click on to a thumbnail to see the next image, you can end up being taken back to the main page by clicking the wrong part of the picture unintentionally.
Overall i don't think this website is awful but i dislike the way you have to view the images.

Just Because.. No.1

These images are taken from Another Magazine, tenth year anniversary special.
The images are shot by David Sims.
I really Love the pop art inspired style and look, so simple yet so eye catching and powerful!
Would love to try and create this look within my own future work.

An Idea / Experiment..

I have worked in the nightlife environment for 2 years now and experiencing the type of culture first hand.. I work in a night club and also a bar. When at work a few Saturdays ago I thought about documenting the aftermath of a Saturday night. After everyone leaves the music is turned off and the lights come up, it reveals what is left off peoples nights out..

Here are a few images taken from last saturday, i was intentionally focusing on close ups.

Berlin Experience

My biggest love in photography is fashion but give me a European city or any city in that case and i become a total tourist with a camera! I love to explore and see and experience new and exciting places and Berlin was great for this! I saw many inspiring sights and also came across lots of weird and wonderful locations which would have been perfect for potential fashion shoots.
Below i have posted a small selection of my favorite images from the trip.

Challenge

Well here it goes first post!
This blog is intended to follow/document the process and development of my digital assignment for college.
I have never really kept anything like this before, i have attempted to write diaries in the past but never stuck with it so this is a challenge which i hope i will enjoy and develop from!
I'm still changing and fiddling around with the appearance of this page defiantly open to comments...
